behind the scenes

Kevin Spacey and I were cast for this film because Arthur Hiller had seen us in Wiseguy together. I was delighted to work with Kevin again and to have the chance to work with Gene and Richard--2 icons in the film industry.

But it was Arthur Hiller that had the biggest effect on me during that film.

I was dating Prince Albert from Monaco at the time, and the Red Cross Ball fell during our shooting schedule. I had alerted Arthur and the producers that I was to attend the ball with Albert and they said they would try to work the schedule so that I could.

Well--long story short--I did not attend the Ball--Albert went by himself and I sat around all day on set and didn’t shoot a thing.

On the last day of shooting---Arthur Hiller was rushed away to the hospital and we wrapped  for the time being till we found out what was wrong with him.

A few months later in LA we did the pick up shots and Arthur pulled me to the side and told me what had happened to him and why. he said that he could not stand the fact that I would be with Albert so he didn’t let me go to the Ball and that he had a slight heart attack on that last day of shooting because he couldn’t face the fact that he would not see me again.

Well--it all made sense then--I mean I had been told that I make an impression on those I meet. It was a very sweet and tender moment that I cherish--and who knows--had Arthur not been married it might have gone somewhere!
